Did Vader know about R2-D2?

Yes, Darth Vader was aware of R2-D2. Before Darth Vader was Anakin Skywalker, he was a dear friend and mentor to Obi-Wan Kenobi, who was known to have the little astromech droid. It’s possible that Anakin knew of R2 much earlier than Obi-Wan, since the two had crossed paths more than once when Obi-Wan was still a young Padawan.

In Revenge of the Sith, Obi-Wan was familiar enough with R2 that he asked him to “hold down the fort” while he and Anakin faced off against each other in their epic lightsaber duel. By the time of A New Hope, Darth Vader had been Evil Lord of the Sith for almost twenty years, and it’s safe to assume that he knew of R2-D2’s whereabouts.

Furthermore, the two of them interacted directly in The Empire Strikes Back when Vader personally gave 3PO the mission to find the Rebel base on Hoth. During the conversation, R2 beeps at Vader, much to the Dark Lord’s annoyance.

It’s clear from all this evidence that Darth Vader did know about R2-D2, though whether or not he knew or cared about the little droid’s role in the Rebel Alliance’s success is another matter entirely.

Throughout the Star Wars Original Trilogy, R2-D2 is an important part of several adventures, such as recovering a part of the Death Star plans in A New Hope and eventually destroying it in Return of the Jedi.

Overall, Anakin and R2-D2 understand each other on a deep, almost intuitive level.

Why didn t Darth Vader take R2-D2?

And therefore had no reason to acquire him. Instead, R2 is able to flee on his escape pod and land on the nearby desert planet of Tatooine. It is not until much later in the film that Vader reveals his pursuit of the small droid, as he instructs his Stormtroopers aboard the Death Star to search for him and any droids in his possession.

Why do C-3PO and R2-D2 not remember Anakin?

C-3PO and R2-D2 are both droids that were both owned by Anakin Skywalker, who later became Darth Vader. However, C-3PO and R2-D2 do not remember Anakin. This is due to their programming and inability to retain any long-term form of memory.

C-3PO’s memory storage, in particular, was wiped multiple times throughout his history, including once by Luke Skywalker shortly after purchasing the droid. Although both droids have retained knowledge of their past adventures, they are only programmed to store short-term memories and not long-term personal ones.

Fortunately, both droids are highly knowledgeable and kept a vast amount of information which can be used to help them seem to ‘remember’ when confronted with the past. But, ultimately, the droids have no true way of knowing who Anakin Skywalker was.

Did R2-D2 know Anakin was evil?

No, R2-D2 did not know Anakin was evil. As one of Anakin’s closest droid companions and a loyal friend, R2-D2 had no reason to suspect his friend was so wicked and fallen to the dark side of the Force.

C3PO was also with Anakin when he turned to the dark side as Darth Vader and is later seen helping Luke rebuild his father in Return of the Jedi. Their loyalty to Anakin never wavered and they are both able to remember him even after his transformation from Anakin to Darth Vader.

Why does Obi-Wan deny owning R2-D2?

Obi-Wan denies owning R2-D2 in Star Wars: A New Hope because it is part of his attempt to keep Luke Skywalker safe. Obi-Wan knows the Empire is looking for him and the droids, and he believes if Luke’s claim to R2-D2 were revealed, the Empire would be able to track him down.

By denying ownership of the droid, he is able to protect Luke from the Empire and help set him on the path to save the galaxy.

Can R2-D2 beat Darth Vader?

It is impossible to easily answer the question of whether or not R2-D2 can beat Darth Vader. This question is dependent on a number of variables, such as the context in which the confrontation would take place, and the type of weaponry and technology employed by each of the characters.

Ultimately, whether or not R2-D2 could beat Darth Vader would depend on a number of factors.

For instance, if we were to consider the original forms of the characters from the Star Wars films, it is unlikely that R2-D2 would come out victorious, given Darth Vader’s strength, power and training as a Sith Lord.

However, if we claimed the presence of additional, more advanced technology, then the tables could be flipped and R2-D2 could win against Darth Vader, as he is many ingenious sensors and compute capabilities.

In the end, it is impossible to state whether or not R2-D2 can beat Darth Vader without more specific parameters and context. We can only dream up scenarios where either one character would take the win; in the end, it all comes down to a matter of imagination.

Who is canonically Anakin’s father?

Anakin Skywalker’s father is never identified in any of the Star Wars films or other canonical works. There are references to him in books, comics and games, but his identity is never definitively revealed.

This is eventually revealed to be a deception by Palpatine when Anakin is seduced to the dark side, but his actual parentage remains a mystery.

There has been much speculation from fans about who could have fathered him, with some suggesting that it may have been Obi-Wan Kenobi. However, this was never confirmed or denied by George Lucas, the creator of the Star Wars saga.

Yes, R2-D2 did recognize Obi-Wan. From the beginning, R2-D2 knew who Obi-Wan was and had a close bond with him. In The Phantom Menace, R2-D2 greets Obi-Wan by name and is willing to accompany him on his mission to protect Queen Amidala.

Throughout the prequel trilogy and the original Star Wars trilogy, R2-D2 continued to show close recognition of Obi-Wan and was often seen to be supportive of the Jedi master. How did R2-D2 end up with Anakin?

R2-D2 first appeared alongside Anakin in the prequel movie “Star Wars: The Phantom Menace” when Anakin first took ownership of the droid. However, R2-D2 had a complicated and extensive backstory before this, starting off as an automaton that belonged to an alien named Rags Vennom.

After Vennom’s death, the droid was sold to a human scientist, who modified the droid’s droid programming to specialize in astromech functions. Before long, the droid was purchased by a man named Ayesha Albansi and eventually sold to a Toydarian merchant, who sold it to Anakin Skywalker in The Phantom Menace.

After joining Anakin, R2-D2 became a loyal companion and friend to him, accompanying him throughout the stories in the second and third episodes of the series, “Star Wars: Attack of the Clones” and “Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith”.

Through it all, R2-D2 continues to be an important part of Anakin’s life and journey.

Where did Anakin find R2-D2?

Anakin Skywalker first encountered R2-D2 when he was a nine-year-old Human slave on the planet Tatooine, working on a moisture farm. Having recently purchased the astromech droid from a Watto, a Toydarian junk dealer, Anakin needed repairs for the malfunctioning machine.

Anakin could repair almost any machine, and decided to use his mechanical expertise to try and fix R2-D2 himself. After several attempts, Anakin was eventually able to get R2-D2 up and running, and the two quickly became friends, with Anakin nicknaming the droid “Artoo”.

Together, Anakin and Artoo embarked on a variety of adventures and the two were eventually separated when Anakin left Tatooine to become a Jedi.
