Kamui is an incredibly powerful technique, allowing its user to shift any object into a void space, or “other dimension,” allowing that object or person to avoid or warp any attack or movement. By combining this ability with his Sharingan, Obito can use the technique multiple times.

Obito’s great mastery over his Sharingan and Kamui is due to his intense training, as well as his experience in war. Although Kakashi was the originator of the technique, Obito’s usage of it proves that he had a skill level far surpassing his former comrade.

This mastery allowed Obito to use the Kamui technique multiple times and with absolute precision.

Why can’t Six Paths Obito use Kamui?

Six Paths Obito cannot use Kamui because of his injuries that he sustained in his fight against the Sage of the Six Paths. Obito had a unique form of Kamui, also known as Kotoamatsukami, that he inherited from Madara Uchiha. This allowed him to use the technique without suffering any negative effects. When used normally, Kamui causes temporary blindness and extreme eye strain, making it a high-risk technique.

But Obito’s unique form of the technique allowed him to use it without suffering these negative effects. Furthermore, he was able to evolve the technique, so he had greater control and mastery over it.

This allowed him to use Kamui more efficiently and prevented him from going blind from using it.

Why didn’t Kakashi use Kamui like Obito?

Kakashi didn’t use Kamui like Obito because it requires an immense amount of chakra to cast, the most notable being Mangekyou Sharingan that Obito already naturally possessed. Kakashi, on the other hand, was gifted with the Sharingan which provides him with chakra-reducing techniques, providing him with an advantage over powerful techniques like Kamui.

Furthermore, the Kamui technique is a one-way portal that only works for the user, meaning Obito was unable to attack others using it. This, paired with his limited chakra reserves, limited Obito using the Kamui with regularity.

As for Kakashi, his physical skills and access to powerful means of long-distance attacks, like the Lightning Cutter, made Kamui seem unnecessary aside from transportation purposes. As a result, Kakashi prefered to save his chakra for more powerful techniques.
