Why is Jon Snow’s hair not silver?

Although Jon Snow’s family is the House Stark, a noble family from the North of Westeros known for having a prominent trait of silver hair, Jon himself does not have silver hair. This is because Jon is not a trueborn son of Ned Stark, but rather his illegitimate offspring from a liaison with a woman from the Northern mountain clan of the Wildlings.

Although he is raised alongside the trueborn children of Ned Stark and is still accepted as a Stark, Jon does not carry the same Stark genes as the rest of his family and does not have silver hair. Despite this, Jon is still a very loyal, brave and honorable character whose actions are in keeping with what it means to be a member of House Stark.

Why did Jon Snow not have white hair?

Jon Snow did not have white hair because he was a Targaryen-Stark hybrid. As a result of this unique combination of two ancient lineages, his physical appearance was a mixture of both families. His face was more broad and square like his Stark blood, but he also had the silver hair, pale skin, and violet-colored eyes of his Targaryen relatives.

This is where the strong resemblance to his true father, Rhaegar Targaryen, can be seen. With the Stark side of his lineage, his hair was black and he had standard Northern features. As he aged, his hair would eventually turn the white of Stark’s Ancient Brand sigil, but he never lived to see it.

Why doesn’t Rhaenyra’s sons have white hair?

Rhaenyra’s sons likely do not have white hair because white hair is a genetic trait that doesn’t usually occur randomly in individuals, especially if neither parent has it. White hair is typically a result of a condition known as albinism, which is a congenital disorder caused by a lack of melanin in the skin, hair and eyes.

Albinism is a recessive gene, so it must be inherited from both the mother and father for the condition to be present. Rhaeynra’s sons may not have inherited the albinism gene from both parents, so it is unlikely they would have white hair.

Additionally, white hair is often associated with increasing age, so a person’s age would usually be a more likely factor than genetics in having white hair.

Do all Targaryens have white hair?

No, not all Targaryens have white hair. While it is a common trait amongst the noble house, there have been examples of Targaryens with dark hair, including Visenya, the sister of King Aenys I Targaryen; Daenerys Targaryen, daughter of King Aerys II Targaryen; and Aegon VII Targaryen.

While the trait is incredibly common, it isn’t a prerequisite for being a true Targaryen, as is often depicted in adaptations of George R. R. Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire. It is generally accepted that the trait is caused by a gene mutation, which results from an inbreeding practice that was used to keep their bloodline pure.

This, however, is not a genetic guarantee and may still be carried and passed along even if those with the particular trait have been left out of the family tree. The tendency for white hair can, however, weaken over time, meaning that those in later generations may be far less likely to even display it.

Why are Targaryens immune to fire?

The Targaryens are a unique family of dragonlords hailing from the ancient Valyrian Freehold. As a result of heavy inbreeding and close blood relation, they have developed a degree of immunity to fire, making them one of the few known human species to not be wholly vulnerable to even severe burns.

This strange ability is credited to the genetic anomaly known as ‘Valyrian blood’ that is a distinct trait of the Targaryen family. This trait allows them to exhibit a degree of immunity to fire, allowing them to survive and even embrace dragonfire that would otherwise be fatally devastating to other humans.

It’s speculated that this special trait is the result of centuries of inbreeding amongst the Targaryen family, allowing their genes to become intertwined with those of their dragons. This unique bond between dragon and human allowed the Targaryens to become one of the few human beings able to resist the powerful heat and destructive force of dragonfire.

In essence, the Targaryens’ resistance to fire has its roots in the family’s mythology and origin story, making it a unique and somewhat mysterious element of their identity.

Why do Targaryens have purple eyes?

The Targaryens have had purple eyes for centuries, first seen with their ancestor, the founder of the dynasty, Aegon the Conqueror (who merged with dragons). It has been suggested that the Targaryens may have selectively bred for the trait, or that the eyes may be caused by a combination of environmental stress or inbreeding.

However, it is possible that the trait may be linked to an adaptation to living among fire-breathing dragons.

It has also been suggested that the distinctive iris is a result of the dragons bonding to their Targaryen riders. The dragons were enchanted by the Valyrian blood possessed by the family, and this magical trait is known to be passed by dragons to those whom they bond with.

It may be that the phenomenon of purple eyes is a result of dragonfire infusing their riders with its unique properties, possibly giving their descendants a unique but subtle characteristic.

Regardless of its origin, the Targaryen purple eyes are certainly unique and they have become almost a symbol of the Targaryen’s ancient power.

Can a child be born with white hair?

Yes, it is possible for a child to be born with white hair. This is known as congenital hypotrichosis or a congenital hair disorder, and while it is rare, it is not unheard of. This typically happens as a result of an inherited gene, which can be either dominant or recessive.

As babies age, the white hair may become lighter, depending on genetics and due to the ages of both the parents. White hair in babies can be caused by a rare medical condition, such as albinism or Waardenburg syndrome.

In these cases, the hair usually stays white over time and is sometimes accompanied by light-colored skin and eyes. However, in most cases, the white hair is just a harmless genetic trait and will not cause any health issues for the child.

What is Domas hair color?

Domas’s hair color is dark brown. He has thick, shoulder-length hair that he usually styles back in a low ponytail. He also likes to spike his hair up in the front, which gives him an edgy, modern look.

He’s also experimented with coloring his hair before, though typically he sticks to natural shades.

Are there kids with white hair?

Yes, there are kids with white hair. While it is much less common than in adults, some children can be born with white hair, typically due to a genetic mutation in the melanocytes (pigment-producing cells) of the scalp.

Other causes can include autoimmune disorders and albinism. White hair in children is usually more difficult to detect until after the age of 8 or 9 when the melanocytes of the skull start to produce dark pigmentation.

If a child’s hair does not appear to darken over time and remains white, then it is possible that the child has a medical condition from which the white hair is a symptom. In such cases, it is recommended to make an appointment with a dermatologist to discuss the issue.

Why is Jon Snow’s hair black if he’s a Targaryen?

Jon Snow’s true parentage is a major plot point in Game of Thrones and has long been speculated by fans. His hair is black because he is biologically a Targaryen, and thus has the usual Targaryen ancestry trait of having silver-gold hair.

The Targaryen color change is due to the influence of House Stark, whose members typically have dark hair. Jon’s dark hair is thus a genetic combination of his father’s caucasian silver-gold hair and his mother’s Northern-influenced dark hair.

One theory suggests that Jon’s dark hair is due to his mother’s influence and his Valyrian descent, which manifests as black hair through an adaptation of the gene pool. This theory is further strengthened by the fact that both Rhaegar Targaryen (Jon’s father) and his sister, Daenerys Targaryen, had silver-gold hair.

However, Jon’s parents were not 100% Targaryen as his father (Rhaegar) was also part of House Targaryen, which also codes for dark hair. Therefore, the combination of Targaryen and Stark gene pools have resulted in Jon Snow’s dark hair.

Why do Rhaenyra children have black hair?

Rhaenyra Targaryen’s children had black hair because they inherited this trait from their mother. Rhaenyra was a member of the Targaryen family, a noble house of Valyrian descent. As such, they had the signature silver-gold hair associated with House Targaryen, which Rhaenyra passed on to her children.

While all Targaryens were known to have silver-gold hair, Rhaenyra’s was especially dark and shiny in color, and she passed on this trait to her children. In addition, due to Rhaenyra’s powerful magical heritage, it is possible that her children also inherited her magical properties, thus giving them their black hair.

What color hair do Targaryens have?

Traditionally speaking, Targaryens are most often either blonde or silver-haired. These colors are so classic for the Targaryen family that they are sometimes referred to as “Targaryen Blonde” and “Targaryen Silver”.

However, over the years, some of the Targaryens have had brown, black, or even red hair as well. For example, Daenerys Targaryen is a character in the book series A Song of Ice and Fire who had white-blonde hair in the books, but was depicted in the television series with a darker, copper-like shade of blonde-brown hair.

Additionally, Aegon Targaryen, known as “Aegon the Conqueror” was depicted as having red hair. Therefore, while blonde and silver hair are the traditionally accepted colors for the Targaryen family, there may be more flexibility than what one would think at first glance.

Who is the black Targaryen?

The black Targaryen is Aemon Targaryen, who was born a few years before the Mad King Aerys II Targaryen. He was the last surviving descendent of Prince Rhaegar Targaryen, who was the brother of Aerys and father of Rhaegar Targaryen.

Aemon was born to Maekar I Targaryen, who was a brother of Aerys II, and his wife Dyanna Dayne. But Aemon was born with a silver pate, (with no hair) which was a sign of being touched by the gods. Also, he was born with a crescent shaped birthmark around his eye, another sign of being blessed.

Aemon was believed to be the black Targaryen due to his prophetic insights and knowledge regarding dark magic and visions of the past, which made him mysterious and powerful. He was also capable of conversing with the gods and using his magical capabilities, including warging into Dream.

He was able to communicate with the dragons, including his beloved Vermithor.

Aemon dedicated his life to the Nights Watch, where he served as the maester and was one of the few people who had magical capabilities. He kept himself hidden, and so people often saw him as a myth or legend, but he was indeed very real and powerful.

He was a wise and kind man who kept the oaths of the Watch and eventually died of old age, surrounded by his beloved companions.
