Make a Winter Mitten Wreath with Paper

Make a Winter Mitten Wreath with Paper

As I’m sure many of you can relate, I find myself struggling to bring an end to the festive atmosphere that fills my home during the Christmas season. Those twinkling lights and colorful decorations seem to linger well beyond December 25th, don’t they? In a bid to extend the magic of winter, I decided to explore decoration ideas that transcend the holiday period itself.

This led me to blend holiday-specific and general winter-themed decor throughout my home, creating a cozy atmosphere that’s perfect for the entire winter season. One such example is the mitten wreath, a delightful representation of winter crafts at its finest. And what better symbolizes the spirit of winter than a pair of mittens? This craft is also an excellent way to spend quality time with children, as you can use their handprints as a template for the mitten sizes.

I discovered this firsthand when I used my 13-year-old daughter’s hand size – it turns out we share a similar fit! By adding a simple red cross-stitch pattern, this wreath transforms into a charming and understated holiday decoration that’s versatile enough to be displayed throughout the season and beyond.

No-Sew Sock Snowman Craft for Tweens

No-Sew Sock Snowman Craft for Tweens

Transform those pesky single socks into a charming handmade gift or quirky doorstop with this no-sew sock snowman craft. If you’re familiar with the mystery of vanishing lone socks, here’s a creative way to repurpose them.

Start by filling a white sock with rice – be surprised at how much it can hold! Once your snowman has reached the desired size, secure the top with a rubber band and then cinch the sock near the top using another band, shaping the head.

Next, add some personality to your snowman’s face by attaching buttons for eyes and mouth using a glue gun or glue dots. Alternatively, you can draw these features on with a black marker or paint. Give your snowman rosy cheeks with washable paint and combine two orange pom-poms for the nose – it looks fantastic.

For the scarf, a ribbon works well, and we recommend using glue dots or a glue gun to secure it in place.

Feel free to trim any excess white sock or tuck it into the hat, which we’ll create next.

To make the hat, cut a colored sock (excluding the heel part), roll it slightly, and place it on your snowman’s head. You can either leave it loose or secure it with glue. And that’s it – your delightful sock snowman is now complete and ready to display!
