Brodie Mountain opened in 1967 when the Brodie family sold the ski area to the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Management (DEM) and the Brodie Mountain Ski Area, Inc. was established. The State of Massachusetts ran the ski area until the late 1980’s, at which point the Brodie family regained control of Brodie Mountain.

In the early 1990’s, the ski area, along with the Brodie Mountain Lodge, were sold to Hilltown Realty.

In 2004, Ski Brodie Mountain, LLC, purchased both ski areas in an effort to revitalize the mountain. This new ownership group invested heavily in the mountain in order to provide a product that is competitive with other ski areas in the region.
