Von Ebert Brewing was founded in 2017 and is privately owned by Dick and Nancy Ponzi. The husband and wife team have been entrepreneurs in the Portland area for more than 40 years. They opened their first business, Ponzi Vineyards, in the Dundee Hills in 1970.

Throughout the years, the Ponzis have been passionate supporters of the local beer and wine industry, and they wanted to give back to Portland’s thriving craft beer scene. In 2017, they opened Von Ebert, which is named after the great polymath and acclaimed inventor, Gustavus von Ebert.

Dick and Nancy have assembled an experienced team of brewers with over 60 years’ combined experience. Aaron Wakefield is the lead brewer, and his team works to consistently create high-quality beers with forward-thinking flavor combinations that compliment both traditional and modern brewing styles.

When did von Ebert open?

What does a cold IPA taste like?

Who owns Fat Head’s brewery?

Fat Head’s Brewery and Saloon is owned by brewery owners, Matt Cole, and Glenn Benigni. Cole grew up in Pittsburgh’s North Hills, where he was exposed to the Pittsburgh beer brewing culture early on.

Benigni moved to Pittsburgh in 2003, after working in construction equipment sales in Cincinnati. The two met while working at the local, Fat Head’s Saloon. The two quickly developed a mutual appreciation of good beer and food and in 2009, they decided to transition from employees to employers.

That same year, they opened their own brewery, Fat Head’s Brewery, with the help of several other Pittsburghers. In 2018, their newly commissioned brewery in Middleburg Heights, Ohio, outside of Cleveland became the company’s new home.

When did Fat Heads North Olmsted open?
