Remus Lupin, on the other hand, is an esteemed professor of Defense Against the Dark Arts. He was bitten by a werewolf as a child and transformed against his will, but is able to keep himself in check with a Wolfsbane potion.

He is also a loyal friend and ally of Harry, Ron and Hermione, and helps to teach the trio the skills they need to fight against Voldemort.

The two werewolves could not be more different. Fenrir is a ruthless and violent monster, while Remus is a loving and wise mentor. Fenrir has no care for anyone but himself – and sometimes not even for himself – while Remus has a great capacity for both understanding and kindness.

Lupin is a different werewolf because he is a “werewolf by choice,” meaning he chose to become a werewolf. Unlike most other werewolves, Lupin was not bitten by another werewolf to become cursed, but instead chose to take a potion that allowed him to become a werewolf at will.

After he was cured by the Wolfsbane potion, Lupin chose to become a werewolf again, but he does so with a conscious effort. He is able to control his transformation and chooses when it happens, unlike other werewolves who transform no matter the circumstances.

His control of his transformation also makes the transformation gentler and more manageable, meaning he is less likely to cause harm to innocent people, which is an important part of Lupin’s code of ethics.

In short, Lupin is a different werewolf because of his conscious choice to become a werewolf and his ability to control his transformation.
