Voldemort was not pleased by this act of defiance.
Finally, Voldemort viewed Lucius as a member of an influential wealthy wizarding family who could have provided more assistance to Voldemort and his cause, but had instead chosen to provide aid to Harry and Dumbledore throughout the series.
This was a major source of frustration for Voldemort and thus he took out his anger on Lucius.
What did Lucius do to make Voldemort angry?

Lucius was hesitant to give Voldemort his wand because he was fearful of the power Voldemort had over him. Lucius had witnessed firsthand the strength of Voldemort’s magic and knew that he could not stand against him.
He also knew that if he gave Voldemort his wand, it would put him in a position of complete servitude and submission to Voldemort’s will, which Lucius might not have been able to withstand psychologically or physically.
Furthermore, giving his wand to Voldemort could also have put him and his family in danger, as Voldemort could have used it to harm them if he was unhappy with the results of the wand’s power. In the end, Lucius chose to keep his wand, accepting the consequences he knew would come of it.
How did Voldemort punish the Malfoys?
Voldemort was known for his cruelty and was particularly harsh to those who defied him. He had no tolerance for disobedience and exacted harsh punishments on those who did not comply with his wishes.
In the case of the Malfoys, Voldemort began by taking away their prestigious status within the wizarding world. Lucius and Narcissa’s family was one of the oldest and wealthiest pure-blood families, so by stripping them of their wealth and status, Voldemort eliminated any sense of power and privilege that the Malfoys had once held.
Next, Voldemort could have sentenced Lucius and Narcissa to Azkaban, the wizarding prison, where they would suffer at the hands of the Dementors. However, Narcissa was ultimately able to evade imprisonment by standing in as a witness at the signing of Voldemort’s new policies, offering her and Lucius temporary freedom.
Along with making the Malfoys appear powerless, Voldemort also humiliated them. He forced Narcissa to beg Harry to test Draco’s loyalty to him, no doubt knowing that she would need to go against her own beliefs to do so.
He also turned on them by expelling Draco from Hogwarts and forbidding him from using magic outside school. This meant that Draco, the golden boy of the Malfoys, would not be able to access the same privileges he had had before Voldemort’s rule.
Finally, Voldemort could have killed the Malfoys himself, an ultimate punishment that would have wiped out their entire family line. However, despite all their misgivings and failures, he chose to spare their lives and allow them to live out the remainder of their days in humiliation and poverty.
Did Dumbledore know Lucius was a Death Eater?
Yes, Dumbledore was aware that Lucius Malfoy was a Death Eater. Dumbledore had known Lucius for a long time and kept a close eye on him throughout the events of the Harry Potter series. Dumbledore knew that Lucius was a part of Voldemort’s inner circle because he had seen Lucius walking with Voldemort the night Voldemort first rose to power in Little Hangleton.

He eventually couldn’t take it anymore, and began to fear even the most mundane items in the workplace, such as the dark corners of a room or a strange noise coming from an unknown source.
He felt as though he was constantly surrounded by evil and eventually, this fear consumed him.
Was Lucius really evil?
Lucius is a complex character and there is no single, clear-cut answer to the question of whether or not he was truly evil. On the one hand, his actions in the series – such as killing, manipulating and betraying those around him – could certainly be interpreted as evil.
He also had a tendency to express extreme levels of aggression, possess a strong desire for power and authority, and showed a disregard for the lives of others.
On the other hand, Lucius was capable of moments of genuine kindness and was fiercely loyal to his family and those he cared about. He was driven by a desire to protect and provide for the people he loved, and would stop at nothing to do so.
Additionally, his devotion to his family demonstrates that he genuinely believed he was acting in their best interests, even if his actions could be seen as morally ambiguous.
Ultimately, though, it is up to the individual to interpret whether Lucius was truly evil or not.
Why did Malfoys mom save Harry?
Malfoy’s mother, Narcissa Malfoy, was determined to keep her son, Draco, alive so she was willing to go to great lengths to do so. At the time, Voldemort had returned and was trying to court Draco, seeing him as a valuable asset to the Death Eaters.
As a result, Narcissa was seriously worried about her son’s safety, so she sought the help of the powerful Hogwarts headmaster, Albus Dumbledore. Unfortunately, Dumbledore was no longer alive and the only one who could help her was Harry Potter.
Knowing that Harry had powerful magical abilities and was Dumbledore’s faithful protege, Narcissa was desperate to make a deal with him.
To ensure that Harry would agree to help her, Narcissa captured Harry and threatened to kill him unless he agreed to her terms. She then manipulated the situation by using an Unbreakable Vow. This was a powerful magical practice that made it so if either side did not fulfill the requested promise, serious and potentially fatal consequences would be inflicted upon them.
Worried for his own safety, Harry reluctantly agreed to the demands and promised to help Narcissa. By this time, Voldemort had already killed her husband, Lucius Malfoy, and she was afraid that Draco would suffer the same fate.
Ultimately, this is why Narcissa saved Harry.
Did the Malfoys turn good?
The Malfoys’ moral path was a complex one over the course of the Harry Potter saga. Initially introduced as pure-blooded villainous supporters of Voldemort, the Malfoys eventually surprised everyone by becoming a major asset in the fight against Voldemort toward the end of the series.
Luna Lovegood was the first to suggest that they had changed sides when she pointed out in 2006 that Narcissa Malfoy might be willing to assist Harry Potter and his allies during the Battle of Hogwarts.

As for their post-Voldemort lives, the Malfoys certainly had taken steps towards redeeming themselves. Apart from aiding Harry and his companions in their mission to defeat Voldemort, Draco also went on to marry Astoria Greengrass and had a child, implying that he had grown into a kinder, gentler version of himself.
Meanwhile, Lucius Malfoy was pardoned and released from Azkaban after Voldemort’s fall.
The Malfoys’ ultimate intentions remain a mystery, but it is clear that they did, in fact, turn good eventually.
Did Narcissa Malfoy know Harry was alive?

Why did xenophilius betray Harry?
Xenophilius Lovegood betrayed Harry Potter in an attempt to protect his daughter Luna Lovegood. In the Deathly Hallows by J.K. Rowling, Xenophilius revealed to the Death Eaters that Harry and his friends were visiting his house, desperately searching for some way to defeat Voldemort.
In doing so, he hoped to bargain for Luna’s safety from Voldemort’s grasp by offering information on Harry. Although his betrayal was a cowardly act, Xenophilius was attempting to save his daughter, a noble and selfless endeavor.
Unfortunately, he was unsuccessful, as the Death Eaters kidnapped Luna after Harry and his friends escaped. Ultimately, Xenophilius’ decision to betray Harry was driven by love and loyalty to his daughter and by pure desperation, a desperate attempt to save her from a certain, horrific fate.
Why did the Malfoys leave at the end of Deathly Hallows?
At the end of the novel, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, the Malfoys made the decision to leave Britain and take side with Lord Voldemort. This choice was made out of fear, as the family had become increasingly fearful of the death eaters and Lord Voldemort’s power.

Did Lucius ever go to Azkaban?

Furthermore, even if charges were brought, the Malfoys had access to a wealth of legal resources that could help them avoid a conviction. Finally, Voldemort’s power was so strong that the Ministry likely feared retribution from him if they pursued criminal action against a member of the Malfoy family.
